Superintendo

Superintendo is a genre-curious punk band from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, blending punk, pop-punk, emo, ska, dub, progressive rock, math rock, jazz, and bossa nova without losing the melodic hooks at the heart of its music.

The band formed in 2023 with Luke West on guitar and vocals, Mike Tyrrell on drums, and Daniel Perry on bass. Their relationship with Punkerton Records began when the trio submitted “God Save the Billionaires” for the label’s Rock Against Trump compilation. The track immediately caught the label’s attention, leading Superintendo to sign with Punkerton Records in early 2025.

Later that year, Dan Mitre joined on lead guitar, completing the four-piece lineup that would define the band’s next chapter.

Throughout 2025, Superintendo built momentum with singles including “Inhaling Confetti,” “Sporting Life,” and “Evergreen,” earning coverage from New Noise Magazine, The Punk Site, Thoughts Words Action, The Whole Kameese, Salad Days Magazine, The Phoenix Remix, and other independent outlets.

The band’s debut full-length, Beauty Routine, arrived in April 2026 and introduced a broader audience to Superintendo’s distinctive approach to songwriting: intricate arrangements, memorable hooks, unexpected stylistic turns, and lyrics that move between personal reflection, social commentary, and cultural criticism.

By the time the album was released, however, Superintendo was already deep into its next chapter.

Through Punkerton Records, the band was introduced to Pete Steinkopf of The Bouncing Souls and began recording its second album at Little Eden in Asbury Park, New Jersey, in October 2025. The sessions continued over the following months and concluded on the same day Beauty Routine was released in April 2026.

While listeners were being introduced to one version of Superintendo, the band had already finished building the next one.

Those sessions became We Will Not Be Undersold, a ten-song sophomore album produced, recorded, and mixed by Steinkopf. He also stepped out from behind the board to contribute backing vocals to “Hearts & Cliques” and a guest guitar solo to “Something Like This.”

The finished record was then mastered by Grammy Award-nominated engineer Eric Taft, completing the most focused and ambitious release of Superintendo’s career.

We Will Not Be Undersold expands upon the musical foundation established by Beauty Routine while presenting a more confident and fully realized version of the band. Across the album, Superintendo moves between melodic punk, pop-punk, post-hardcore, emo, ska-influenced rhythms, progressive structures, and experimental arrangements without sacrificing immediacy.

That combination of musical ambition and lyrical substance has become central to Superintendo’s identity.

Rather than treating punk as a restrictive set of rules, the band uses it as a foundation from which to explore whatever best serves the song. Superintendo can move between genres, complex arrangements, and abrupt stylistic shifts without abandoning melody or accessibility.

The same philosophy carries into the band’s live performances, where the emphasis remains on energy, connection, and creating an environment in which the audience feels like an active part of the experience rather than a passive observer.

Beauty Routine was the record that should have put Superintendo on more people’s radar. The important part is that while listeners were still discovering it, the band was already six months into creating something bigger.

With its four-piece lineup firmly established, Punkerton Records in its corner, UnitedMasters providing global distribution and infrastructure, Pete Steinkopf behind the board, and Eric Taft delivering the final master, We Will Not Be Undersold is not Superintendo asking for another chance to be noticed.

It is the sound of a band entering its next phase with the songs, the team, and the ambition to reach considerably further than it has before.
