Band Of The Day: Omar Feliciano
Queens, NY singer-songwriter Omar Feliciano has just released his newest album, the 12-track House Of Aragon. This intimate album as a whole dives into and reflects on topics such as systemic racism, history, the prison system, human rights, the struggling and misunderstood artist, social media, friendships, loss, and relationships. The album was preceded by the singles “Family Anchor”, “Snap”, and “Momma Calls”, “Family Anchor”, an acoustic song that truly tugs on the heartstrings while dealing with the loss of a loved one.
“Snap” asks the questions about how long a society must go on being a punching bag, while “Momma Calls” is a song that reflects on the exploitation and imprisonment of jailed individuals. “Momma Calls is a song about exploitation and imprisonment,” explains Feliciano. “Inspirations for this song came from life and a very special Ted Talk featuring Bianca Tylek on the subject along with books like The Prison Industry: How it started. How it works. How it harms by Worth Rises and PUSHOUT by Monique W. Morris.”
Along with the single, Feliciano released a music video for “Momma Calls”. The video was directed and filmed by Danilo Cordova (The Dreamland Fire) and features artist, singer, and actress Detra Denise in the role of the mother.
House of Aragon was recorded and produced at Audio Pilot Studio in Byram Township, NJ by Robert Freeman. All songs on the album were written by Omar Feliciano and the album features musical contributions from David Dones (Fit For Rivals), Robert Freeman (Hidden in Plain View), Nicholas Dean Narlis (The Phoenix Within), Eleftherios Taliakos, and Juan Ismael Morocho.
The album is now available across all major streaming platforms. Listen to House of Aragon on Spotify.
